Version One Launches Carbon-Neutral Initiative 20/10/2006

A carbon-neutral initiative has been launched by document imaging and management software firm Version One – a first for the industry and, says the company, aimed at spreading the idea among the wider IT community.

Version One says it will offset its carbon emissions by planting native broad-leaved trees on behalf of customers that buy its software and services. The company reckons it will be planting at least 1,000 trees per year to make it carbon-neutral within 12 months.

The company is partnering with the Tree Appeal and its patron, Professor David Bellamy OBE, to facilitate the programme. Says Tony Bray, Version One director: “Our document management and imaging software has been helping businesses reduce their paper consumption for nearly 18 years. Now it’s time for Version One to take its environmental commitment to the next level.”
