Hamworthy Norway goes for £1million-plus ERP implementation 28/06/2006

engineering IT, manufacturing Fluid handling systems manufacturer Hamworthy’s Norwegian subsidiaries, which supply gas and pump systems to shipping and offshore industries, are investing £1.12 million in an extended ERP system from IFS.

Hamworthy Gas Systems and Hamworthy Pump Systems, both of which have been experiencing fast growth, expect the new system to help them improve business and project-building agility by simplifying and standardising their business processes.

Says Tore Lunde of Hamworthy: “The company’s expansion was exerting great pressure on our existing systems. The solution from IFS was best suited to accommodate our needs and requirements. IFS offers a flexible standard industry solution that reinforces our ability to change with the times. IFS has also shown that it understands our industry, a critical factor for long-term co-operation.”

IFS Applications’ industry solution for project-orientated industry (EPCI) will support Hamworthy’s engineering (including CAD interfaces), project management, purchasing, document management, financial management, supply chain, HR and after sales activities.

The company expects to make extensive use of portal technology to simplify co-operation with suppliers in global delivery projects by enabling fast access to live information.

Hamworthy Pump Systems, for example, working with its Danish subsidiary, has developed electric loading and ballast pumping systems for floating production vessels. The company works with major offshore companies and shipyards, so need an business and IT environment able to provide high levels of documentation, while tracking substantial project delivery schedules.
