Cognis’ plant in Hythe, which makes hydroxy monomers, is getting tighter production control and consistency since migrating from legacy controllers to a digital system. Plant operators are also seeing improved asset management. There are two major multifunctional monomers production units at Hythe, MMU2 and MMU3. The former was controlled by standalone controllers, while MMU3 is run by a nearly Rosemount System 3 distributed control system (DCS) from Emerson.
