Royal Navy selects IFS for maintenance and applications hosting 21/04/2010

manufacturing business computer systems The Royal Navy has selected IFS Defence to provide support and application hosting for its primary maintenance management system, (UMMS), under a five-year contract worth up to £7.9 million.

UMMS as the onboard maintenance management and scheduling tool for all major surface and subsurface vessels, and the IFS system is also being deployed across the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, commencing now.

Meanwhile, separately, IFS has launched an enhanced version of Project-Based Solutions 3.0, designed to give manufacturers greater visibility and control of their business critical projects.

The solution has been developed in cooperation with IFS' project orientated ysers and experienced IFS consultants. It incorporates all the functions of a fully integrated ERP suite with specialist functionality for project control, project financial control and project materials management.

Says IFS CEO Alastair Sorbie: "Recent results from a study we commissioned with Forrester Consulting highlighted that a lack of sufficient information causes significant project delays and duplication of effort and yet companies are not taking advantage of available technologies to improve their capabilities and maturity.

"As organisations prepare for recovery, in what will remain a hugely competitive and cost focused market, we firmly believe the ability to run mission-critical projects consistently more efficiently will impact the speed at which these businesses return to growth."
