Openbravo open source ERP gets extensions marketplace 28/01/2010

manufacturing business ERP system Openbravo Exchange, a global online marketplace for solutions and extensions to the Openbravo ERP open source software, is now live.

Extensions to the original platform started back in April last year on Openbravo Forge, a collaborative development portal hosted by Openbravo.

However, according to Josep Mitjà, COO of Openbravo, the community has been asking for an easy way to monetise its work since then, and Openbravo has responded by creating Openbravo Exchange.

To date, 8,800 developers have registered and there are 265 projects on the Forge, on which the new Exchange has been built.

Mitjà makes the point that, with more than 1.5 million downloads of Openbravo ERP software, developers can tap into a very large market.

Manel Sarasa, CEO of Openbravo, adds: "This is the decade of open source enterprise applications, and Openbravo is leading the way. SMEs demand cost-effective, packaged solutions, and this exchange completes our industry-leading vision to meet that demand."
