Wild West revs up exotic bike development with Autodesk Inventor 13/10/2009

engineering CAD business software Motorcycle manufacturer Wild West Motor, which makes some of the most exotic bikes in the world, is replacing SolidWorks with Autodesk Inventor.

The company says it's all about moving beyond 3D to digital prototyping – and being able to design, visualise and simulate a complete product with a single digital model.

Jim Winn, senior partner at Wild West, says that Inventor will enable Wild West to streamline its design and engineering process to accelerate product development for its high-end motorcycles and gain competitive advantage.

"We are moving away from SolidWorks because we can accomplish more as a company with the suite of digital prototyping tools that Autodesk has to offer," he says. "We will use Inventor to embark on a new era of innovation here at Wild West."

Wild West has been an Autodesk Alias and Autodesk Showcase user for some time, to enable fast design styling and visualisation respectively.
