International operations and supply chain exams now available from IOM 23/06/2009

manufacturing business operations New operations and supply chain management education, certification and membership programmes are now available in the UK, thanks to a US—UK partnership.

The Institute of Operations Management (IOM, the largest operations management institute in the UK) has entered into an alliance with APICS (the Association for Operations Management, in the US).

Leonie Edwards, IOM manager, explains that the alliance will expand APICS' presence in the UK and result in APICS' internationally recognised certification examinations, products and services – including local meetings, conferences and networking events – being available in the UK.

APICS certification will now be accessible to members of the IOM and its sister organisation CILT (the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport).

As a result, manufacturing and supply chain operations professionals, will be able to take the CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) course and/or the CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) programme.

Says Edwards: "The partnership will enable the IOM to provide more comprehensive resources to operations and supply chain professionals throughout Great Britain and to bring an international perspective to our work.'
