Covisint extends global supplier portal contract with Daimler 18/06/2009

manufacturing business communications software Covisint, Compuware's automotive sector web trading exchange subsidiary, has signed a contract extension with Daimler.

Daimler director Florian Manhart says the new contract is to extend its portal and identity management solution that securely connects Daimler with its huge network of suppliers.

He explains that large manufacturers with global supply chain requirements face several technology and flexibility challenges – particularly in providing suppliers with access to key business information and applications.

"As social media and other newer technologies continue to emerge, security's role in communications and transactions becomes even more critical," comments Manhart.

"Together with Covisint, we will further leverage the latest Web 2.0 features and, in a systematic approach, look for solutions to bring the communication with our suppliers to the next level."

Covisint already provides Daimler and its suppliers with an industry standard connectivity and security platform, including single-sign-on in a cloud computing, SaaS (software as a service) environment, to enable seamless collaboration, particularly around time-sensitive information.
