Procter & Gamble takes innovation to next level with simulation 19/03/2009

engineering business software system Consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble says it has selected Simulia SLM (simulation lifecycle management) to support its collaborative product development efforts around the world.

Tom Lange, director of corporate R&D modelling and simulation at P&G, says that by working closely with Simulia the company will be able to define critical SLM requirements.

He also expects to be able to identify out-of-the-box capabilities that will be incorporated into the solution and adopted globally.

Based on Dassault Systèmes' V6 platform, which the organisation defines as its "online collaborative environment for PLM 2.0", Simulai SLM will help P&G to capture, share and automate the execution of approved simulation methods, while also improving traceability of simulation data, and accelerating decision-making.

"P&G shares a common vision with Simulia regarding the democratisation of predictive simulation," says Lange.

"It is our goal to make the benefits of realistic simulation available to a broader range of users than previously possible. Simulia SLM will help our global teams accelerate innovation by providing access to simulation tools, validated processes and corporate knowledge bases throughout the product lifecycle."
