Zebra gives Oracle integration architecture stripes for IT cost cutting 05/03/2009

manufacturing business software Printer products manufacturer Zebra Technologies reports good progress on a business transformation initiative, using Oracle software and services to streamline integration and maximise IT agility.

The company says that Oracle Application Integration Architecture and Oracle Master Data Management will be used to replace its range of disparate systems and obsolete business processes with an all Oracle solution.

Zebra explains that, due to a number of acquisitions, its IT group has been left managing a large number of isolated and disconnected systems, which are unable to its growth plans.

Last autumn the company started to consolidate its customer information into one source using Oracle Customer Hub from the Master Data Management Suite and to integrate its cleansed data with applications including Oracle’s Siebel CRM and a number of legacy systems using Oracle AIA.

Zebra says that within two months it was able to deploy a highly controlled and consistent master data solution throughout its European operations. A similar implementation is now scheduled to rollout to the US in the next few weeks.

The company also reckons that its initial reliance on Oracle AIA resulted in 60% time and cost savings, and higher data quality – at the root of enabling its master data management project to go live in two months.

Together, Oracle AIA and Oracle Customer Hub now give Zebra a central, controlled platform for ‘on-boarding’ future acquisitions. Additionally Zebra says it is benefiting from less business disruption with its integration and migration efforts – leading to lower IT costs and risks, not only during initial implementation but also over time as it upgrades and evolves its various systems.
