IFS Applications selected by engineering contractor Sørco 25/02/2009

manufacturing business software Norwegian independent engineering giant Sørco, which serves the oil and gas sector, says it is implementing IFS Applications to help expand the company into more complex projects.

Sørco has been moving from being a supplier of engineering services to being a supplier of complete and larger EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction and installation) projects, which, says Njål Selsvik, vice president EPCI at Sørco, puts higher requirements on project management.

“IFS is well known in our industry for broad engineering capabilities and standard integration tools, and comes with a setup based on NORSOK [Norsk Sokkels Konkurranseposisjon]. In addition to functionality, IFS’ extensive experience in our industry was important,” says Selsvik.

Sørco has bought IFS Engineering Register to update and harmonise its IT for EPCI projects. “The functionality in IFS Engineering Register is comprehensive, and the solution can easily scale with more EPCI functionality, which we plan to implement during 2009.”

Selsvik expects the solution to control the five key project-centric elements: time, risk, cost, cash and resources. The project started in January and is due to be completed in June.
