Web application delivery just got faster and smarter 17/11/2008

manufacturing business software So-called expert-in-a-box templates will cut your web application deployment times in half.

That’s the claim from Citrix for its NetScaler 9, being launched next week – as well as a bunch of feature upgrades on its predecessor that increase performance and cut power consumption.

Damian Saunders, manager of the ANG Group at Citrix, says that the new solution will reduce the cost of delivering web applications like Microsoft SharePoint, Oracle E-Business Suite and SAP, thanks to its ability to dynamically optimise usage of network and server resources.

He also makes the point that manufacturers are increasingly relying on web-based applications – yet, the performance of the applications themselves can let down networks designed to cope with far greater speed and performance.

“The nature of applications is changing. The common problems with application delivery are often simply too complex and dynamic for network and server teams to understand without deep application-level knowledge,” says Saunders.

Hence NetScaler 9, which offers more intelligent infrastructures to cope with the varied demands.

“Main features include: simplified deployment of applications, improved application fluency, advanced XML security and efficient allocation of resources.
