Mitas treads SOA path with IBM enterprise integration 11/11/2008

manufacturing business systems Mitas, one of Europe’s largest tyre manufacturers, has penned an agreement with IBM under which Big Blue will build it a new enterprise integration platform based on service orientated architecture (SOA).

Mitas staff say the new platform will enable it to integrate SAP ERP 6.0 and other business applications – streamlining application alignment and management and shortening the time taken to introduce changes.

Other benefits will include cost savings achieved through more efficient system administration.

Earlier this year, IBM and subcontractor Inter-Informatics worked with Mitas to implement a new tyre information system (TIS).

The IBM solution, implemented in the first half of 2008, is now an integral part of Mitas’ off-road tyre production, supporting the everything from the development lifecycle, to processing data on materials and generating workflows for machines and processes.
