BT introduces new telepresence services for multi nationals 17/09/2008

A new service from BT will allow manufacturers to host inter-company Cisco telepresence meetings, boosting the opportunities for effective supply chain collaboration.

Luis Alvarez, president EMEA & Latin America, BT Global Services, explains that, with BT’s exchanges operational in London and Denver, Colorado, its inter-company communications service will be available across Europe and the US, starting now.

Cisco TelePresence is already helping multi-national businesses to cut travel costs and reduce environmental impact – and Alvarez says that BT’s One Source for Cisco TelePresence services will now simplify the solution with concierge support.

“Virtual face-to-face meetings enabled by Cisco TelePresence are becoming more and more popular, and the emergence of an inter-company service can only accelerate this trend. Until now, business has enjoyed these benefits only in internal meetings, so by eliminating this technological barrier, the benefits of telepresence will be enjoyed far more widely.”

BT Conferencing is already one of the leading players in the UK and European conferencing market and has a strong presence in the USA and Asia Pacific. Today’s announcement follows its acquisition of Wire One Communications in June this year, which significantly enhanced its video conferencing capabilities and service offerings in the USA market.
