IBM software set to ease integration and master data management 21/08/2008

manufacturing business software systems IBM is introducing a new version of its master data management software as well as another version of InfoSphere Information Server, which allows users to standardise naming data.

The company makes the point that master data management is a high priority for many manufacturers, involving data on customers, products, suppliers, partners, materials and also employees. Bringing together information, typically scattered across multiple front and back-office systems, isn’t trivial says the organisation.

Hence IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Server for Product Information Management (MDM Server for PIM) – a new version of the software previously known as IBM WebSphere Product Centre.

What that allows is a single view of product information throughout an organisation as part of a comprehensive master data management strategy. IBM says the software is capable of managing millions of products, including product data that differs by geographic location.

Big Blue also says the new version is simpler to deploy and use, due to an improved user interface, which makes it easier for users to interact with product information. The software is also now integrated with InfoSphere Information Server so that users can run data cleansing to improve the quality of their information.

Underpinning all that are extended mainframe support and improved ease-of-use, with new automation features to simplify and speed large-scale information integration projects across the globe.
