manufacturing business software Lighting manufacturer Osram says it is underpinning growth and supply chain flexibility by using GXS Trading Grid to manage B2B e-commerce on a global basis.

Oliver Rupprecht, EDI manager at Osram, says that the company has improved speed to market and its ability to run with technical innovations using GXS to execute on its complex supply chains.

“With GXS we can move faster to address new EDI opportunities anywhere in the world by adding new trading partners very quickly,” he says.

“We don’t need to be specialists or worry about the varying standards and technologies in different countries… GXS provides us with a standardised, high-availability infrastructure that helps drive down the cost of data exchange with business partners,” he adds.

Osram originally selected GXS to help support the company’s EDI strategy to drive global growth, especially in Asia, and cut time to market for innovative new products.

GXS Trading Grid messaging service is a global, Internet-based transaction system that enables manufacturers to exchange documents – such as forecasts, purchase orders, invoices and payments – electronically in a secure, fast and reliable environment, using XML standards and traditional EDI.
