EADS to build Phenix project on PTC Windchill solution 04/08/2008

manufacturing engineering business software Aerospace and defence giant EADS has gone for PTC’s systems to harmonise its PLM [product lifecycle management] methods, processes and software tools across all business divisions under its PHENIX initiative, launched last year.

Jean Botti, EADS CTO, says it’s a major stride, and will improve communications between its divisions, product development speed and overall product quality.

“The entire group will benefit tremendously from this new partnership and from the creation of a harmonised PLM environment, which leads to cost savings, reduced time-to-market and improved product quality,” he says.

“The harmonised workflow also improves the communication between the divisions and among each player in world-wide co-operation. We found that PTC came up with the most convincing solution and best serves our business needs.”

“To select a single provider for such an important service to EADS was not an easy decision,” adds Jean-Yves Mondon, vice president and head of the PHENIX project at EADS.

“An extensive selection process was performed, which has been recognised by the independent PLM organisation Collaborative Product Development Associates, LLC (CPDA) of Stamford, Connecticut as a reference benchmark for PLM provider selection.”

PTC’s Windchill will provide the enterprise PLM backbone for product development, with EADS launching a development of the system, dubbed PHENIXCHANGE for all its divisions.
