Schneider Electric streamlines service with CDC 23/06/2008

manufacturing business systems Automation and electrical distribution giant Schneider Electric says it is improving fulfilment rates and productivity, increasing capacity, cutting costs and streamlining efficiencies with CDC Software’s cWMS Release 10 warehouse management system.

Andrew Holdroyd, logistics projects manager at Schneider, says that since first implementing an earlier version of CDC Software’s cWMS, 10 years ago, the company has consolidated two of its warehouse sites, and expanded capacity to 50 tons per day, covering 14,000 product lines.

“We needed to upgrade our warehouse functionality and systems to support our growing business volume and new distribution service in a multi-brand environment,” he says.

“We have already achieved many important benefits using CDC Software’s cWMS solution, including a delivery fulfilment rate of 99.7%, improved stock accuracy, audit trails, workload monitoring, visibility and increased information.

“The recent successful go-live, on time and under budget, confirms the commitment of our two companies to achieve continual improvements to meet the on-going change and demands within our business.”

And Michael Shrimplin, logistics development analyst at Schneider Electric, adds, “The implementation was practically seamless and was carried out with no negative impact on our customer service levels.

“While the initial go-live covered an ‘as-is’ upgrade, the latest version of cWMS will allow us to implement additional functionality that is expected to drive additional productivity, efficiency and profitability benefits. These include capabilities such as cartonisation, which will help improve item scanning, picking accuracy and overall quality control.”
