Central Europe shows huge engineering software uptake

Engineering software sales in central Europe grew 11% during 2007 to more than €185 million, according to analyst Cambashi.
By 2010, the organisation forecasts that the region will grow PLM (p[roduct lifecycle management), CAD/CAM/CAE and related applications sales to more than €265 million.
Says Cambashi managing director Peter Thorne: “Today, central Europe represents a faster growing market than Europe as a whole. Investment in infrastructures and manufacturing is creating demand for engineering applications.”
Cambashi estimates that Poland has the biggest engineering applications software market: at €78 million it represents 42% of the region’s total expenditure, having grown at nearly 15% over the previous year. As for manufacturing engineering applications, Poland accounts for 36% of the region’s spend.
Czechia comes second; with nearly €67 million, representing 36% of the region’s expenditure. Cambashi estimates that Czechia represents 39% of the region’s demand, with €35 million in manufacturing engineering software.
Third is Hungary, which grew at a similar rate of 8% during 2007: in mechanical engineering software, demand reached over €15 million or over 52% of the Hungarian market.
