Mobile applications to spread on partner network 18/06/2008

manufacturing mobile business software Mobile applications developer Dexterra says it is making a concerted effort to match the requirements of industry sectors by ramping up its partner network.

Matthew Moore, vice president of partner development, says: “There’s a long tail of applications and processes required in different industries, so we intend to enable partners in the widest range of vertical sectors to build these around the Dexterra platform.”

‘Enable’ is the operative word: Dexterra is offering assistance without an agenda that forces licensing, for example, by network or operating system. “We wanted to give more flexibility for developers, so we’re also helping them with market analysis, mentoring and support – providing resources that they might not have.”

Part of that is Dexterra’s launch of Dexterra Central, its partner portal, with forums, blogs, wikis etc. “It’s a place where the partner ecosystem can exchange information, and, over time, it will become a fully fledged marketplace,” says Moore.

Currently, Dexterra’s network extends to some 20 organisations producing around 30 mobile applications running on its platform – with Dexterra selling and implementing around half of its installed base.

Moore says the goal is to turn that around, so that around 80% of projects come through the channel, which it hopes to grow to about 100 partners, producing everything from timesheets to inspection sheets to service transactions, all running on connected mobile devices.
