Leach International to ramp up lean manufacturing on Infor ERP 27/05/2008

manufacturing business software system Power switching and controls specialist Leach International says it expects to improve operations management and accelerate its lean manufacturing transition.

The manufacturer, which serves the aerospace industry, will get an extension of parent company Esterline’s Infor ERP SyteLine 8.0 system, and president Mark Thek says he is focusing on the system’s multi-site capabilities and role-based functionality.

“The adoption of lean manufacturing practices will improve our competitive position, and we eagerly anticipate full implementation of lean across the organisation,” says Thek.

“Through many of the projected productivity gains provided by Infor ERP SyteLine, we will significantly accelerate the timetable of this cultural transformation,” he insists, adding: “That is not an easy task, considering that the previous business practices at Leach were in place for more than 50 years.”

Beyond this, Thek says he also expects his new ERP implementation to help Esterline develop a roadmap of best practices for the future deployment of Infor ERP SyteLine 8.0 in its other divisions.

Says Tim Heer, business process and training coordinator at Leach: “Infor ERP SyteLine has many built-in aerospace and lean manufacturing-focused capabilities that we would have otherwise had to develop ourselves. We were pleased to find an ERP provider that can address these requirements.”
