Abel & Cole Fresh Dynamics project buds up 07/04/2008

Organic food delivery firm Abel & Cole is investing more than £425,000 in Fresh Dynamics AX ERP, from Microsoft gold certified partner Index Computer Systems.

The company is getting a 90-user system, with modules including finance, trade and logistics, demand planner, production portal and website orders.

Fresh Dynamics is an extension of Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP developed for the fresh produce industry, and providing rapid order processing, pack house production and quality control.

Chris Gort, IT manager, at Abel & Cole, says that its procurement modules, for example, will help Abel & Cole with stock and quality control, as well as improving its transportation planning and underpinning the company’s growth plans.

“The main reason we needed a new ERP solution was the aggressive growth of the business that was stretching both the internal IT team and the current bespoke in-house system to the absolute limit,” says Gort. “Fresh Dynamics was the only product suite that offered us the right combination of functionality and flexibility.”

First phase went live in September 2007, with Dynamics AX financials replacing Sage MMS. The second phase is scheduled to go live at the end of August this year, and involves the organisation migrating to Dynamics AX stock management, purchasing and production, sales order management, and HR. CRM and demand planning will follow later in the year.
