Spellman puts a new charge into lean manufacturing operations 28/03/2008

Spellman High Voltage Electronics says it expects to improve real-time visibility and control over shopfloor operations when it implements the Apriso FlexNet manufacturing operations management system.

Mitch Alexander, Spellman CIO, also believes that the system will help to identify and distribute best practice throughout the business, and support the its ongoing lean and continuous improvement initiatives.

The company, which manufactures high voltage dc power supplies, Monoblock X-ray generators and power systems for medical, industrial and automatic test equipment applications, had reached the point where it needed an extra push for it lean programmes.

“With FlexNet, our plan is to enhance visibility so we’re better able to adapt operations, letting us more efficiently respond to changing customer requirements, without disrupting operations or sacrificing quality,” says Alexander.

“In the end, we selected Apriso as a solution provider that could provide global visibility down to the shopfloor, helping us identify which processes are indeed best practice, which we will then globally distribute,” he adds.
