Tableware manufacturer gets IT costs off its plate 03/03/2008

manufacturing business software Ceramic tableware manufacturer Dudson Group is going live with new ERP under a global five-year hosting deal with provider DigiMIS.

Dudson strategic support director Ervin Davis says that hosting and management of the HR, payroll and time and attendance modules has already gone live – and that the system will be fully up and running across the UK, Spain, Australia and the US by the end of June.

Dudson went for DigiMIS as part of its implementation of a new Syspro ERP solution supplied by K3, which also includes advanced warehouse management and CRM (customer resource management).

Davis says he did it because he’s getting fixed-cost, 24-hour availability service across multiple sites and time zones. “DigiMIS has many other Syspro clients and a good relationship with the supplier. It means we have one less thing to worry about during the implementation of the system.”

He also points out that the service delivers the ultimate in business continuity, because the Syspro system is mirrored across two data centres, guaranteeing power, communications, environmental control and security.

“The resilience of the DigiMIS service will give us tremendous peace of mind, so we can just get on with running our business without having to worry about the IT,” he comments.

“We have to have 24-hour availability across multiple sites and time zones; with the DigiMIS service, we can get a clear view of our business from anywhere in the world and the system is as responsive as if it was on our own premises. Running our own server farm would not only require a higher capital investment but our personnel costs would increase too,” he adds.
