Butler Group advises: watch Exalead’s Unified Search 02/01/2008

manufacturing business software system Independent analyst Butler Group says manufacturers would do well to look at search software developer Exalead’s navigation system and multiple contiguous data source search capabilities.

“There is a growing need within organisations for effective search capabilities driven both by compliance and litigation risk, and also a need to be able to locate information easier in order to improve productivity and share information throughout the enterprise,” says senior research analyst Sue Clarke.

“A strength of exalead one:search is its patented ‘search by serendipity’ navigation system, which enables users to search for information in the same way in which they think,” she explains.

She also praises Exalead’s architecture, which was designed in house with 64-bit grid computing in mind, and uses modern 64-bit multi-core processors. “exalead one:search is suitable for any organisation that has a requirement for a search capability, whether it is for the enterprise, the desktop, or as a Web search tool,” says Clarke.

“Exalead as a company has important differentiators including ease-of-deployment, a business-critical focus, and a single platform for all of its search types, leading to Butler Group certainly believing that it is worthy of a closer examination.”
