£4 million kitchen and bathroom manufacturer Adam Furniture has implemented its Access Supply Chain ERP and says it is already seeing improved order processing, reporting, stock control and materials management.
The system replaced a Unix-based accounting package and a collection of spreadsheets – which had been struggling with the demands of a huge increase in product range, plus a rapidly changing customer profile.
Just six months after the Access Supply Chain system went live, the company says it is helping the company to respond in terms of tuning inventory levels, delivery schedules, customer service and so on.
Finance director Tracy Hannon gives the example of sales order receipt, which the despatch department used to manually break down into list of carcasses, doors, cornices, plinths etc to be supplied by the various departments. ”Now, we can put orders in as complete units and the system generates picking lists automatically for despatch, giving us instant traceability,” he says.
“We have achieved our original aim, which was to have up-to-the-minute stock information,” says Hannon. “This means we can manage our stockholding much more effectively and the next step will be to reduce it. That will be a key financial benefit to us.”
