Cardo AB signs with Lawson for streamlined business processes 20/08/2007

manufacturing business software Cardo group, which has interests ranging from logistics systems, to wastewater purification, garage doors and the pulp and paper industry, is to implement an M3 (formerly Intentia) ERP system from Lawson.

Its stated objective is to standardise and streamline business processes across its various brands worldwide – including Crawford, ABS, and Lorentzon & Wettre – and increase competitiveness. The contract provides licenses for 800 users in 20 European countries.

Cardo has selected the new Lawson M3 7.1 technology as the platform and the Java-based Lawson M3 Enterprise Management system. It’s also going for Lawson’s business intelligence software and CRM (customer relationship management) software, to look after sales management, service management and service mobility.

The company believes its former reliance on disparate business systems has created inefficient business processes. “We see significant opportunities for strengthening our competitiveness through working with a single, unified enterprise system,” says Cardo CIO Peter Lindqvist.

Cardo used Lawson’s Opportunity Analyser in its Crawford division to identify the best options for business improvement. Lindqvist says that identified more than 80 specific improvements the group could make, helping the company to visualise potential returns and make the business case:

For example, he expects the system to enable Cardo’s service technicians to connect to the enterprise management system via hand-held devices. That will help strengthen the company’s ability to compete in the after-sales market, while also allowing a large number of users to connect remotely to the business system.
